Last weekend, at the sports center Tennis and Squash Grüze AG The third Swiss Pickleball Championships took place in Winterthur. The country’s top players had previously qualified for the season’s highlight through three qualifying tournaments on the 2026 Swiss Pickleball Tour.
Pickleball, a combination of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is considered the fastest-growing sport in the world. More than 50 million people worldwide now play pickleball, and the number of active players is also growing rapidly in Europe.
Over the course of two days, the participants competed in exciting, high-level matches in the Open Age and 50+ categories. Numerous spectators watched the title matches and created an excellent atmosphere.
The weekend was particularly successful for Hannah Gianan, who managed to secure three Swiss championship titles at once (Triple Crown!). With gold medals in women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, she was the dominant player at this year's championships.
The 2026 Swiss Pickleball Championships vividly underscored the sport’s dynamic growth in Switzerland. The Swiss Pickleball Association, led by President Magnus Stedile-Fornadori, expressed great satisfaction with the quality of the matches, the organization, and the growing interest in the sport.
With the successful tournament in Winterthur, pickleball continues its impressive upward trend and is increasingly establishing itself as a sport that transcends generations, appealing to young and old alike.
