The League - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Perfect League Day

  • Two Clubs
  • Four teams each (Open Age 2.5+, Open Age 3.5+, Senior 50+, Senior 60+)
  • Meet at a mutually agreed-upon location with 4 pickleball courts
  • The Open 2.5+ and Open 3.5+ divisions will each begin with Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles on two courts each, followed by both mixed doubles matches.
  • Open 3.5+ will play the Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles on separate courts while the seniors warm up for their matches afterward.
  • The 50+ and 60+ seniors will each play on two courts—one for women’s doubles and one for men’s doubles.
  • After that, they'll both play mixed doubles.
  • The games will be over in 3–5 hours (don't forget to take breaks between games)

Questions and Answers

Who is eligible to participate in Swiss Pickleball - The League?

The following are eligible to participate:

Direct members form their own SPA team.

Participation in Swiss Pickleball – The League is free.

A team always consists of:

  • 2 women
  • 2 men

Thus, a team consists of exactly four players.

There are currently no plans to have reserve players.

Yes.

The captain can:

  • play actively on the team yourself, or
  • take on exclusively an organizational role.

Each team consists of exactly four players.

    No.

    A player may only, during a season, for a single team line up.

    This means:

    • not for two teams from the same club
    • not for two different clubs
    • not simultaneously for a club team and a SPA team

      Swiss Pickleball – The League 2026 will be played in four divisions:

      • Open Age 3.5+
      • Open Age 2.5+
      • Seniors 50+
      • Seniors 60+

      Open Age 3.5+

      The following will be 6 matches played:

      • Women's Doubles
      • Men's Doubles
      • Mixed Doubles 1
      • Mixed Doubles 2
      • Women's Singles
      • Men's Singles

      Open Age 2.5+

      The following will be 4 matches played:

      • Women's Doubles
      • Men's Doubles
      • Mixed Doubles 1
      • Mixed Doubles 2

      Seniors 50+

      The following will be 4 matches played.

      Seniors 60+

      The following will be 4 matches played.

      Yes.

      Each team has the following players:

      • a woman Women's Singles
      • a man Men's Singles

      All four team members play in the doubles and mixed doubles matches.

      There are No minimum number.

      The League is intentionally designed to be flexible.

      Play as many matches as you like.

      The more matches you play, the more league points you can earn.

      There is no fixed geographic area of operation.

      You decide for yourselves which teams you want to play against.

      The teams are working together to find an alternate date within the official season.

      A host should provide at least the following:

      • at least two pickleball courts
      • Game Balls
      • a team captain
      • Fair Play
      • and, ideally, a group barbecue or a cozy get-together after the games.

      A DUPR Rating required.

      A DUPR account alone, without a rating, is not enough.

      If you don't have a rating yet, the Swiss Pickleball Association or your club will be happy to help you get one.

      It's simple:

      Play a few matches with other DUPR players and log them in DUPR.

      Many clubs help their members set up accounts and play for DUPR ratings by holding DUPR rating sessions instead of regular practice sessions.

      The decisive factor is the Highest DUPR rating on the team.

      Yes.

      As soon as At least one person on the team has a DUPR rating of 3,500 or higher has, the entire team must compete in the category Open Age 3.5+ line up.

        Yes.

        A team in the category Open Age 3.5+ Of course, the team may also include players with a DUPR rating below 3.5.

        The only requirement is that at least one person on the team has a rating of 3,500 or higher possesses.

          No.

          As soon as a player has a DUPR rating of 3,500 or higher has, the team must Open Age 3.5+ play.

              Currently, the category includes Open Age 2.5+ All teams whose highest DUPR score under 3,500 lies.

              The classification is based on the internationally recognized DUPR categories. As the league grows, additional performance levels may be introduced in the future.

              Every set we win counts.

              The following applies to every match:

              • 1 League point per set won
              • 1 additional League point for winning the match

              Example:

              A match ends 2:1.

              Team A receives:

              • 2 points for the sets won
              • 1 point for winning the match

              Total: 3 points

              Team B receives:

              • 1 point for winning the set

              Total: 1 point

              This means that every set remains important, even if the match is lost.

              Note: Each event—that is, each league meeting—features 4–6 matches, depending on the category.

              The rankings are based on the total league points, which a team accumulates during the season.

              All results and tables are automatically displayed in Tournated conducted.

              Students are assigned to classes during registration.

              A subsequent increase or decrease in the DUPR rating has has no effect on the division that has already been selected during the current season.

              No. There is only one match per matchup. You and the opposing team decide where the match will be played.

              The only important thing is that both teams agree.

              The League aims to promote matches between clubs, foster friendships, and further bring the Swiss pickleball community together.
